Nonetheless, here is a first instalment...
I have in the past few years been working, as some of you know, on a manuscript that I hope to have finished quite soon, on the meanderings of a couple from F as in "falling in love" to S, as in "separate paths", and taking the reader through every stage of the relationship, from meeting and romance to living together, having children and a family life, to the final chapter.
So here is one of these poems. Please tell me what you think...
One two three, one two three;
The music pulsates, rythmically.
Entwined, smiling couples glide,
Hand clasped to each partner's side.
Feeling the music to their core,
A flowing swirl upon the dance floor,
Two people as one turn and sway;
He smiles, taking her breath away.
Lightly they weave among the crowd;
Oblivious, dancing on a cloud,
Into each other's eyes they stare:
Desire runs palpable through the pair.
Each wears finery tonight to impress:
Hint of aftershave, stockings, a dress...
They inch closer, now touching bodies.
I love you, he whispers, as he twirls her with ease.
A little embarrassed they move apart,
This instant etched inside each heart.
A final flourish, the music slows;
The perfect moment draws to a close.
