Already a week since we held a poetry reading evening at home, on Thanksgiving. Once again, great company, wonderful poetry by many famous (and not-so-famous) authors, and (though the cook says so herself) mounds of fine food washed down by excellent wines from the area. A very pleasant evening all round, at which the likes of Betjeman, Wilde, Shakespeare, Auden and many more were read. It was a great pleasure to hear lines from Shakespeare's Twelfth Night read by Joy, who used to be a drama teacher, and therefore knows how to give the necessary gusto to such powerful things. Or to hear Laura the Scot's own poem in her rich scottish accent! This time, Roussy was part of it as well ,although a day of rock climbing with school had left her too weak to stay up, so she staggered off to bed after reading only one.
Let's do this again soon!
